At less than 72 millimeters wide, the MICRO PLC is up to 50% smaller than typical micro controllers and opens up new solutions and possibilities in terms of performance and space requirements.

Based on SPEED7 technology for the highest clock rates and fast program processing, this product enables fast operations such as precise positioning and a wide range of control tasks. Additional speed advantages come from a fast backplane bus transmission of 48 Mbit/s. With the CPU performance of a large CPU, the MICRO PLC is the fastest micro controller on the market.

High Channel Density

An additional plus factor is the high channel density of the MICRO. With 30 integrated digital and analog I/O channels, it offers a wide range of application options even as a standalone CPU and can be expanded with up to eight modules. The available digital modules will be continuously extended with all common module types. This gives the user up to 158 I/O channels for automation tasks.

Secure Hold with Spring Terminal Technology

The connection plugs of the MICRO can be removed individually and are therefore suitable for pre-wiring. Thanks to the convenient push-in technology, they can be mounted and replaced quickly and easily without tools. This reduces downtime and speeds up maintenance. In addition, the plugs not only allow easy wiring but also feature vibration-resistant spring terminals, which makes retightening of screw connections unnecessary.

Easy Diagnostics

The direct assignment of the I/O display LEDs to the corresponding plug connection allows the user to identify the channel status easily and clearly, even at such a high channel density. In addition, the MICRO is equipped with an integrated web server, which provides random access to data, diagnostics and status interfaces as well as freely definable visualization projects via smart device, PC or laptop.

Interfaces, Communication and Memory

With an active 2-port switch for online access, programming and communication, the functional range can easily be extended with further planned features via a firmware update.

In addition to standard Ethernet protocols such as Modbus TCP or S7 communication, the MICRO also supports PROFINET. Up to eight PROFINET devices can be connected easily, and the MICRO can be integrated as an I-Device in PROFINET topologies. With an expansion module, the user can also use the PROFIBUS slave function, PtP and MPI. Further functions of the SLIO system, such as larger memory or fieldbus connections, can be activated using the multi-award-winning VIPA Set Card (VSC).

The basic version of the MICRO has 64 kByte of work memory, which can be expanded to a maximum of 128 kByte via VSC. The biggest advantage of all current VIPA CPUs is their fully retentive memory, so data and status information are saved in the event of a power failure. This simplifies program configuration and is another major advantage for manufacturers and operators.

Target Applications

The MICRO PLC can be used as a high-performance small or micro controller in series and special machine building, as well as for centralized or decentralized control in plant construction. Thanks to its compact design, it is also perfectly suited for building automation and the installation of sub-distributors.
